Sponsorship for every athlete.
BackedFit is an online platform that lets athletes of every sport sell sponsorship of their races to anyone who wants to back them: supporters and brands alike.
What we do
An athlete creates a free page with their race calendar and a campaign for an upcoming race or season. They choose where sponsor logos can go (as temporary tattoos on their body, or printed on their race kit), set a price for each spot, and choose how spots sell: at a fixed price, or with bump pricing (below).
Anyone can be a sponsor. Supporters (family, friends, teammates) usually back an athlete to be part of their race, and may put their name, a message or a photo on the spot. Brands back an athlete for exposure, with their logo. Either way, a sponsor picks a spot, adds their logo or text, and pays by card, and the athlete wears it on race day. Supporters can also "chip in" without taking a spot.
BackedFit provides the software: athlete pages, the spot editor, checkout, and print-ready files for the tattoos and kit. We do not manufacture or ship any products.
Who you're paying
Every sponsorship is a sale by the athlete to the sponsor. Payments are processed by Stripe and go directly to the athlete's own Stripe account. The athlete is the seller and merchant of record, and is responsible for delivering the sponsorship.
BackedFit never holds sponsor funds. Our platform fee is deducted automatically by Stripe from each payment. Card details are entered on Stripe's secure checkout and never touch our servers.
Pricing
For sponsors: you pay the price shown on the spot (set by the athlete), or the amount you choose to chip in. There are no added fees at checkout. Prices are in US dollars.
Bump pricing: on campaigns that use it, a sold spot can be taken by another sponsor who pays double what the current sponsor paid. The displaced sponsor is refunded in full, automatically, to their original card. Bumping ends at the campaign's print deadline, and the sponsor holding each spot then is the one who races.
For athletes: creating a page and campaigns is free. When a sponsor pays, BackedFit keeps a platform fee of 8% (minimum $3, never more than 25% of the payment), and Stripe charges its standard card processing fee. The rest is paid out to the athlete by Stripe.
| Sponsorship | BackedFit fee |
|---|---|
| $25 | $3 |
| $100 | $8 |
| $250 | $20 |
Refunds, cancellations and disputes
Because the athlete is the seller, refund requests go to the athlete. Sponsors can reply to their Stripe receipt or contact us at support@backedfit.com and we will pass the request to the athlete within one business day.
- If an athlete removes or declines your logo before the race, you are refunded in full.
- If the athlete does not start or finish the race, any refund is at the athlete's discretion, as stated at checkout.
- If you are bumped off a spot on a bump-pricing campaign, you are refunded in full, automatically.
- Once a sponsorship has been delivered (your logo worn at the race), it is not refundable.
- Refunds are returned to the original card through Stripe, usually within 5 to 10 business days.
BackedFit's platform fee is not refunded to athletes when they refund a sponsor, except on bumps, where we return our fee on the refunded payment. Card disputes are handled by the athlete through their Stripe account.
What we don't allow
Logos must belong to the sponsor and must not be offensive, misleading, or promote anything illegal, adult, tobacco, cannabis, gambling or weapons. Athletes must be 18 or older. We remove content or pages that break these rules or our terms.
